The GoldWing is sold and today I bought a BMW R1100GS, a nice all-road bike that is good on the highways and country roads but also capable of some off-road use.

The BMW R1100GS that I bought today

It is from 1997 but has been used for only 22000 km so it is almost like new and I'm very happy to have found it..

Yesterday I was in Woerden but today I worked from my home-office. During my lunchbreak I did some lunch-walking and only a few hundred meter from my house, I took this picture.

View from the Brabantse Wal

I am so happy we live in this beautiful environment.

This weekend, my wife went to Den Helder, in the very North of Holland, to visit some relatives. I had a lot of time to spare so I went for a ride. Unfortunatley the weather is very bad with a lot of rain and wind so I went by car, my Suzuki Samurai 4x4.

I took the scenery route to Hoogstraten in Belgium. They have one of the highest brick buildings in Europe, the 105 meter high Sint-Katharina Church.

I parked the little jeep on a parking on the main street and walked to the church to take some pictures. That was difficult because of the rain (raindrops on the lens). Then I went inside to admire the magnificent stained glass from the 16th century.

This church was built between 1525 and 1550 on behalf of the Earl of Hoogstraten and his wife, Anthony van Lalaing and Elisabeth of Culemborg. In October 1944 the retreating German troops destoyed the tower but in the 50's it was reconstructed.

This weekend, I went to a Horizons Unlimited meeting in Germany, near the city of Heidelberg. This time, I did not ride the bike but went there in my Suzuki Samurai 4x4.

I had a nice trip and you can read more about it in the report on my travel page.

On my way home from work in Amsterdam, I had to wait for the train at the railway station at Schiphol Airport when the new high-speed train arrived at the platform.

It was doing a test-ride on the highspeed track and unfortunately not ready for passengers.

Some families and friends attend the running event "De Brabantsewal Marathon" in the five and ten kilometer run so I went there to make some pictures.

The finish area of the marathon.

The pictures are also usefull to fill the first version of the ZuidWestActueel website that will be on-line very soon.

After a days work in Amsterdam yesterday, with seven hours in public transport, I was happy I could get on a bike today. .
With a camera on the "dashboard" I first went to Wouwse Plantage to get a video of the road for our website www.regiorit.nl.

Then I left the pavement for a dirtroad through the forest near Wouwse Plantage. I tried all kinds of narrow roads, some paved, some dirtroads, that I had never been before and the little Honda did a good job, even in the sand.

Sometimes I was in Belgium and sometimes in the Netherlands. I really enjoyed riding and exploring roads I had never been before.
In the end, I went past Putte to Ossendrecht and I bought some chainlube spray at Motorservice Ossendrecht and then I went home on a dirtroad through the forest between Ossendrecht and Calfven.
