Every year for the last ten years, we had a family weekend with my
parents, brothers and sisters, their spouses and all children and
grandchildren.
Because of my parents deteriorating health, we changed from long
weekend to just one day. Today we had that day and we all went
to Madurodam in The Hague.

Madurodam
is a miniature city with famous buildings from all over the Netherlands.
It was started after the second World War to remember George Maduro,
a war hero who died just a few days before the war ended. It is, as
far as I know, the 'most enjoyable' war memorial in the world.

This afternoon, Erika and I both had an empty agenda, so we took
the bus from Putte (at the Belgian border) to the center of
Antwerp. In Antwerp we went to a nice small restaurant (
KoffieKlap,
Klapdorp 41 in Antwerp) for lunch. They have the best coffee in
Belgium !
After our lunch, we had a nice walk in the center of Antwerp before
we took the bus, back to the Netherlands.

Today my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a
lunch with family and friends. We had a very nice afternoon, talking
to familymembers we had not seen for a long time.
Yesterday, Klaas Tigelaar, the mayor of Voorburg, the village they
live in, visited my parents to congratulate them.

My son Vincent needed another car because his old car was worn out
and started to be less safe so I went with him to a garage in
Roosendaal to look for another car. We did a testride in a Renault
Scenic. It is not new but in good shape so he bought it.
Checking out the Renault
He will get it next week because it needs new tires and some minor
repairs and an APK test first (APK is like MOT in England and TUV
in Germany).

Last night, I made a report for
Regioactueel.nl about the 'Dijkrock Route'.
Five bars in the Raadhuisstraat in Hoogerheide had a podium (sort of)
where a band was playing. They had a schedule that made it possible to
walk from bar to bar to listen to all of the bands.

Our Honda CB400T needed some maintenance so I went to Motorservice
Ossendrecht. While working on it, John noticed the cylinderhead
gasket was leaking oil so now the gasket will be replaced.
That was the only problem. The bike is in excellent condition for
an almost fourty year old motorcycle.

At seven o'clock in the morning I went to Lelystad with my sons
Michiel and Ronald, to play airsoft at the Balls & Arrows field
until four o'clock in the afternoon.
After the last time we went there, I had bought my own facemask,
tactical vest and gloves, so now I just had to borrow the goggles
and airsoft gun.

The weather was perfect so we enjoyed our day playing in the woods.
On our way home, we had a McDinner at the drive-inn in Meerkerk.
