February 2014

After a visit to my parents and delivering a bicycle at one of our friends in Den Haag, we went to Scheveningen to watch the sea and to have dinner at a seaside restaurant.

Dinner at the seaside

At Grand Cafe Vitesse, we had very nice fish and chips with a very tasty sauce and we had a sorbet as dessert. I can absolutely recommend Grand Cafe Vitesse for their very friendly and efficient staff and good food.

I just missed my train at the train station at Schiphol Airport this evening, on my way home, so I had almost half an hour to spend. On Schiphol that is no problem because it is always nice to watch the activity with the planes on the platform.

The weather was perfect, my wife was away with my granddaughter and I wanted to make a ride so I got on my BMW and went to Etten-Leur to go to the shop where one of my sons works to buy something my wife needed for her cats.
Then I took the long way home past Roosendaal en Wouw. In front of the church in Wouw was a.big statue for carnaval so I stopped to take a picture of it before I continued my trip through Heimolen to go home again.

This morning I went to the tattoo shop in Bergen op Zoom for the final touch of my tattoo and then I went to Ossendrecht, to Motorservice Ossendrecht, to get my topcase back. I had a new lid and the bottom was reïnforced with a sheet of 3 mm aluminum.
With the topcase mounted, I took the long way home because the weather is wonderful. It is nine degrees Celcius and sunny. Perfect riding weather.

We had a bussy day today. In the morning we went to the farmhouse of my oldest son and his family. My granddaughter had her birthday so we had a nice birthday cake and lunch and then we went to Delft because my brother and his wife are married for twenty five years.
After a bowling competition with family, we had a nice dinner before we went home. We rode almost fourhundred kilometers today for family celebrations .

For this morning, the weather forecast is good so I get the BMW from the garage for a ride. Via Putte, I rode past Wuustwezel to Brecht in Belgium and then I went North, to the border-town Baarle-Nassau/Baarle-Hertog. Past airfield Seppe, I rode to Steenbergen and then past Tholen over the Oesterdam I went home. The last hour of the ride was windy and it was raining but I enjoyed my ride anyway.

From yesterday, until June, there is the exhibition "Living Dinosaurs" in the former Post-office in Rotterdam with life size Dinosaurs that move and make noises. Today we went there with two of our sons and four grandchildren. The children loved the big dinosaurs.

From the dinosaurs, we went to the Maritime Museum Rotterdam were we visited the exhibition with paintings, model ships and a lot more. There was a special "nautical' playground for the children.

This evening, while watching the movie "Captain America" on TV, we got a phonecall that my youingest son had an accident with his bicycle. He was in the ambulance but was allright. His bike was not......
We went to his home in Bergen op Zoom to hear what had happened and to check if he was ok (he was).

This morning I needed to get out and get some fresh air so I took the BMW for a ride to Tholen. Over the Oesterdam and then, past the bridge at the end of the Oesterdam, on the isle Tholen, I just followed some narrow country roads, through Poortvliet and a little farther and then back through Bergen op Zoom and Huijbergen to my home again.
Just over an hour riding. The wind was blowing very hard, but it was dry and not cold so I enjoyed the ride.

Yesterday, we found out that we had two train tickets that would expire tomorrow so my wife and I used them today to make a day trip to Middelburg in Zeeland.
We walked from the train station into the city center and visited some interesting shops, visited an art exhibition and had coffee with six different types of cake in a very nice restaurant.
