Yesterday evening, I returned home after a five hour trip by bus and
train from Luxembourg city.
Mondaymorning I left home on the BMW to ride to the South of Germany
but the weather was bad with rain and a hard wind and I did lot like
to ride on the autobahn all day so I decided to go to Luxembourg.
Because of the bad weather I wanted to spend the night in a hotel in
Echternach so I could do a little sightseing in the evening.
I found a hotelroom in the center of Echternach and had dinner on a
terras but when I walked through the streets and parks of the old city
it was raining cats and dogs.
It was very wet.
The hotel was not a good choice either. It was close to a few phonebooths
and an ATM so cars stopped and people talked all night.... and I had my
bike parked in front of the hotel.....I did not sleep much that night.
The next day I left Echternach to do some touring in Luxembourg and I started with
one of my all time favourites, the CR118 from Echternach to Larochette.
Unfortunately I did not come very far.
After only one kilometer on this road, I stopped at a parking to spray
my chain. When I tried to start the BMW after that, it ran for two
seconds and died, with smoke coming from under the dummytank.
I called roadside assistance in Holland and after an hour waiting, a
rescue car with a big trailer arrived and took me to a BMW dealer in
Luxembourg City.

First they thought they had fixed it but after less then a hundred meters,
it started backfiring so I went back. Then they decided the problem was
to big to fix quickly so now the bike will be transported to Holland next week.
They think the cabletree is burned inside.
..so... end of my holiday after one day riding in the wind and rain......
and now I am home but I think I catched a cold and I'm feeling ill.
