On Facebook, I found a few pictures of my grandfathers coal trade,
one of them with my father on it. It was a picture of almost 70
years ago.
The 'Krijtenburg Kolen' coal trucks
From front to rear (right to left on the picture) you see my
uncle Daan in front of the truck, my grandfather behind the truck,
my father (about 15 years old) leaning on the next truck and uncle
Nico next to him.
Behind the trucks is my grandfather and grandmothers house.

Together with three of our sons, our daughter and their spouses and
children we went to a bowling alley for an hour bowling together.
There was a special 'tool' for the little children so they could play
too.

From the bowling alley, we went to an 'all you can eat' restaurant
in Roosendaal for a very nice meal.

It is Christmas Eve and I went to Huijbergen. I had to write an article for
Regioactueel.nl about the annual 'shepherd walk'. That
is a walk from Huijbergen, through the forest, to a stable. It is a
symbolic walk to remember the shepherds that came to the stable in
Bethlehem more then 2000 years ago to celebrate that Jesus Christ was born.
The start of the walk to the stable
In the stable a Christmas mass was held. The priest gave a sermon and the
people sang Christmas carols. After the mass, there was glühwein for
everyone and then the people walked back to Huijbergen to have a meal
together.

Today I got my new tool, a new Nikon camera. Now I can make better
pictures when there is less light.

The weather was very nice today so when I had to go to Calfven (Ossendrecht)
I got the Honda CB400T from the garage. After filling the tank at the Texaco
I enjoyed riding in the sun again.

Today I had to write a very interesting article for
Regioactueel.nl.
Chantal Simons, a 28 year old girl from Ossendrecht arrived home after
a motorcycletrip from Australië to the Netherlands on a Yamaha XT250.

Just across the border in Belgium, not far from where I live is a
forest with a nice castle, 'Castle Ravenhof'.
It is owned by the municipality Stabroek and is used for all kind of
cultural activities.
A few years ago, the chairman of the local history association, Swa
Elsevier found an old notebook with drawings of the castle. This
inspired him to dig deep into the history of the castle.
Today, he presented the book he wrote about the history of Ravenhof
to Count Reynald Moretus Plantin de Bouchout, a descendant of the
former inhabitants of the castle, and to the Mayor of Stabroek,
Rik Frans.
The count and the writer
When I was finished with taking pictures and doing interviews for my article
about the book on
Regioactueel.nl and was leaving the castle, I also
got a copy of this interesting book.
