Day 15, Back in the Netherlands
Tuesday, September 24, 2019
We are on our way back to the Netherlands in a big Boeing 777-300.
After take-off we got a nice dinner and are on our way for this
6006 kilometer flight to Schiphol Airport.
In the air
Our arrival time on Schiphol Airport was ten o'clock in the morning
local time and, just before we touched down, I could make a picture
of the Dutch coastline.
Our first view of the Netherlands
We were in the back of the Boeing so it took a long time before all
passengers who were sitting in front of us had left the plane but
after a while we set foot on Dutch soil (well, Dutch concrete in
this case).
Our plane at the gate
Because Anneke was walking with her crutches, we could use the
priority line at the border control and then we had to wait for
our suitcases.
With our suitcases we went to the arrivals hall and to our surprise
it was not only our sister Thea who was waiting for us, but also my
oldest son with his youngest son waiting who were waiting for us.
Nice surprise at Schiphol
Together we went to a restaurant for a coffee, chocolat milk
and Fristy before we went to the carpark to Thea's car.
Coffee at Schiphol airport
From Schiphol, Anneke and Thea drove me to train station Laan
van Nieuw Oostindië for my train to Bergen op Zoom.
In Thea's car
When we were on the platform of train station Laan van Nieuw
Oostindië, our trip together officially came to an end. I took
the train back home and Thea would bring Anneke home.
Goodbye on the station
From the train, I waved my sisters goodbye and started the
last part of the trip.
My sisters on the platform
The train arrived in Bergen op Zoom, fifteen minutes past four
and my wife was alreay waiting for me with the car.
Anneke and I had a wonderful trip and we were so happy that we had
the chance to meet Oom Jan one more time before he passed away.
We enjoyed our stay in Canada, the beautiful nature, the history,
the First Nation culture and the crowded but beautiful city Toronto.
It was a pleasure to travel together with my oldest sister and
we really had a good time together.
