This morning I had my breakfast at the youth hostel. It was 50 Dkr. It was a good breakfast with plenty of coffee, orange juice, bread and so on.

The youth hostel

Because of the rain tonight, the dead sheep on my buddy was soaking wet so I hang it on a chair in the cabin to dry. Fortunately the weather is a lot better now. It's time to ride !

Today I wanted to go to the Russian Submarine U-359 in Nakskov, in the West of Lolland. From Sakskobing I rode to Maribo and the I turned North onto the Margueritrute. The views here are amazing. Often with the sea as a background.

A nice view

Near Svinsbjerg on the Margueritrute I came past King Sven's mount, a passage grave, build by the people who lived here about 5200 years ago. The grave was restored in 1991.

I am so happy with my Tomtom. Without any problem, I drove rightaway to the U-359 at Skibsvaerftsvej 8 in Nakskov. The entrance fee was 45 Dkr and it was worth it.

The Russian U-359

It was amazing that 59 Russian sailors lived in this steel tube for weeks. There was so little room and no privacy. The U-359 was build in 1953 and has been in active service until 1989 and was involved in the Cuban missile crisis

59 people lived here !

Next to the submarine, in a small museum was a scale model of the U-359, build out of LEGO blocks. Very well done.

From Nakskov I rode a little more to the West to Tars. Tars has a small harbour with some nice wooden boats. On the road to Tars I stopped to take a picture of some horses in the grassland and in the Tars I stopped and had a soda.

Through Nakskov I rode to the South of Lolland. Again the Tomtom showed me some nice roads. Then again I switched the Tomtom off and rode a small part of the Margueritrute until I was South of Sakskobing. Then I used the Tomtom again to get back at WingDing.

Denmark is beautifull

Back on WingDing I walked around the campsites. There are two campsites. Because the normal campsite was to small, they also have a sockerfield that is used as a campsite now.

Nice seats

At the stand of Dimac, I bought a drinkholder for my bike. Now I can always have a bottle of water or fruit juice at hand when it's warm. I could try it and if it would not fit I could bring it back and get my money back but it fitted wel so finaly I have a drinkholder.

When I was at the youth hostel parking, I saw two other Dutch bikes. A GL1000 Vetterstate and a GL1200 with a trailer.

Another Dutch Winger

Today is the Saxine festival in Sakskobing. A musicfestival with bands playing in the center of Sakskobing. Because it is only a five minute walk to the center, I walked around a bit in Sakskobing before I returned to WingDing.

An old lady made special WingDing dolls. Big troll like dolls with a leather jacket with GWRRA on the back. Very funny. If I had the luggage capacity to take it, I would have bought one. Maybe next time.

Visitors of the Saxine festival

Back at WingDing I did some bike watching. It is really inspiring to see all the work people have done on their bikes to make them stand out from the crowd.

Look at all the little details

It is impressive to see a bunch of GL1800 in a line next to some tents. The 1800 is a very nice bike but I like the 1000, 1100 and 1200cc four cilinders most.

A line up of GL1800's

At nine o'clock was the light parade in Sakskobing. A lot of people from Sakskobing were watching while all the beautifull lighted GoldWings and Valkery's drove by.

A GL1800 in the light parade

After the light parade I walked into Sakskobing and listened to some nice country music at the Saxine festival before I returned to WingDing.

At the Saxine festival

Back at WingDing, a lot of the bikes that had been at the light parade were still showing off. It is amazing how many lights some people can fit on one bike.

A Valkery with "some" extra's

That evening there was music by Jens Bahnsen in the big hall. He was very good. He did songs from Dire Straits, Fats Domino, Elvis, John Denver and many others, solo, with just a keyboard and a gitar.

That evening I talked to Judy and Dave. Originaly from a GWRRA Arizona chapter but now living in Poland. It was nice to hear people speak English instead of Danish or Norwegian.

Judy and Dave

After a while people started dancing. First only one couple, then to others joined and later a whole group of dancers were on the floor. It was a party.

Finaly it was over and all people went back to their hotel or to the campsite. I was glad that I did not had to drive to a hotel but could walk to my cabin. Now it was no problem to have a few beers.
