Introduction
In September 2016 I made a short trip to Luxembourg. From home I went to a hotel in Wesel in Germany, the next
day I went to Berdorf in Luxembourg via the Eifel. The next day I made a tour on backroads from South to West
to North to East and back to the hotel. On Thursday I went home again.
Monday, September 12, 2016,
It was less then 230 km from home to Wesel so I did not had to hurry. I left home at around eleven o'clock and
used the freeway to the border with Germany. In Elten I stopped to take a few pictures in the towncenter.

Past the historic Roman town in Xanten I rode to Wesel. I had visited the historic Roman town twice already so
I did not stop this time but rode on to the hotel, Hotel Haus Duden, Konrad-Duden-Straße 99 just outside the
city of Wesel. Wesel is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia and it is the capital of the Wesel district.

I checked in and got a nice room in a neighbouring building. Unfortunately, the restaurant of the hotel was
closed today so I had to find another place to have dinner. Then the lady at the receptiondesk told that the
closest restaurant was closed on mondays too.
But there is always plan M. On my phone I checked for the closest McDonalds and that was only a few
kilometers away so I got on the bike again and rode to the McDonald's at the Schermbecker Landstraße 119 near
Wesel and had a nice dinner.

After dinner I went into Wesel and parked my bike near the Willibrordi-Dom, a cathedral that is build between
1498 and 1540. Next to the cathedral was a memorial for the Jewish synogoge and school that was there before
the nazi's destroyed it in 1938.

I walked around the Willibrordi-Dom and on the Grand Square, I saw the late Gothic Town Hall. Buildings on
both sides of the town hall were in scaffolding but they used it for a big "Wesel 775 year" banner on both
buildings.

Back at the hotel, I could park my GoldWing right next to the entrance of the building were my hotelroom
was situated. Then I went into the main building to get a cup of coffee that I drank outside in the shade
of a porch before I went to my room.

I went to bed early and slept with the window open because it was very warm.
