A midweek in a holidayhome in Hattemerbroek (page 1)
Monday, August 23, 2021
This morning, the first day of our short holiday, we loaded our lugage in the
trunk of our Toyota and left for our ride to Zwolle.
Before we went to the holidayhouse, we had to visit my wifes niece and her husband.
We were invited for lunch and we had to pick up some towels and other things
for the holidayhouse.
After a nice lunch and a few cups of coffee, we went to the bungalowpark where the
house was. It was a very nice little house and a quiet place.
The holiday house
The little house has a nice covered deck so we can sit outside, even when it's
raining and there is a big TV so we can watch TV in the evening.
As I mentioned before, it is a very quiet place and because of that, we could see
squirrels and nice birds, like this wood nuthatch.

Today was a busy day with a lot of driving in the car, visiting family and installing
our stuff in the house so we end the day with a quiet evening.
Tomorrow will be a busy day again because we want to visit a few museums.

This morning we had breakfast outside. We saw some beautiful birds while we were eating.
After breakfast we went to the American Motorcycle Museum at Zwolsestraat 63C in Raalte.
There were a few nice bikes that I also had in the past, such as a KH900 side valve and
an AMF HD SS250 two-stroke.

From the motorcycle museum we were on our way to a castle when we came across an Organic
Farm Shop.
We wanted to take a look there (Overesch Ecological Agriculture at the Hondemotsweg 40
in Raalte) and we immediately did some shopping and drank delicious coffee with a biscuit.
We bought organic coffee for in our holiday home and mayonnaise and a pack of delicious cookies.

There was a sign that you could also look at the pigs on the farm. Just to make sure, I asked
the lady in the store if it was allright to watch the pigs and it was no problem, so we walked
to the pigpens.

But we were on our way to Castle het Nijenhuis at 't Nijenhuis 10 in Heino/Wijhe.
Thanks to the Toyota navigation we eventually arrived at the castle via a pretty exciting but
also nice dirt road where we had to park the car in a meadow and walk a few hundred meters to
the castle.

Before we entered the castle, we first looked at the sculptures in the garden.

After looking at a lot of sculptures we went into the castle itself, which is also very
beautiful. Some of the rooms would make a nice man cave for me.

The beautiful library
We really enjoyed our visit to this beautiful castle.
We usually eat at McDonalds on our wedding day, so even now we looked for a McDonalds and found
one in Heerde, a half hour drive and a ferry away from the castle.

With a full stomach, and even a salad and a smoothie in the bag to eat later, we drove to the
house for a relaxed evening reading and watching TV.
