Pont des Invalides!

From the "Pont des Invalides" we get on the "Boulevard de Saint Germain" on our way to the Notre Dame. We cross the Seine at the Pont au Change and again on the Pont Notre Dame

The Pont au Change

On the Pont Notre Dame we stop to get some pictures of the waterfront. It is very beautiful here. Then we get on the bikes again to go to the Notre Dame.

Our bikes on the Pont Notre Dame

Then we arrive at the Notre Dame. It is very crowded and there is a long queue of people who want to get into the Notre Dame. In our protective bike clothing it is much to warm to stay in the sun to long so we just take a few pictures and then it's time to get out of Paris and find some nice winding bike roads :-)

The Notre Dame

From the Notre Dame we drive to the "Gare de l'Est" and then we get on the "Rue du Faubourg Saint Martin". Later this turns into the "Avenue de Flandre" that is already signposted as N2, the road to Soissons.
On the way to the Gare de l'Est, I am stopped by the police. They let Bruno drive by and stop me. Maybe I look more like a terrorist because I have a beard ? The officer wants to see my passport and driving license and then I can drive on.
Before we leave Paris we need to fill our tanks because we don't know if it is easy to get gas on Sunday on the routes Nationale and routes Departementale so in a suburb of Paris, Patin, we fill our tanks at a BP gasstation. It's a quarter past twelve now.

Fill the tank before we leave Paris

I am just overtaking a truck when Bruno, who drove in front, turned sharp right. He saw a sign to Soissons that I missed because I was overtaking so I had to turn around and go back to follow Bruno.
Then we followed the N2 in the direction of Soissons.

It is getting warmer and we need a drink so we stop at the parking of a Total gasstaion to drink a soda, have some cookies and check the map for the next part of the trip.

A place in the shadow to have a drink

The N2 is a nice road. parts are four lane and parts are two lane. Because it is Sunday, there is not much traffic on the road so we enjoy the ride. The countryside is beautiful. Relative flat with big cornfields and small villages and nice farmhouses.

We are near Soissons when I see a special windmill, very different from the windmills we have in the Netherlands. We stop at a parking and with the zoom of my Minolta Z10, I can make a nice picture.
