May/June 2011

At ten AM, I needed something to drink because it is a warm day. At a Burger King at Autohof Landwest Bedburger I buy a cold milkshake.

Buying a milkshake at the Burger King

At eleven, I buy a cold Cappuccino and a bottle of water at Autohof Brohltal West in Niederzissen on the A61 and a a quarter to twelve. I stop at an Autohof near the bridge over the river Mosel. This bridge is 935 meter long and the bridge is 136 meter above the river. At the parking I have a chat with a German lady who rides a BMW F800GS.

After more then 200 km on the autobahn I want to fill my tank again. At half past twelve, I fill the tanlk at an Aral gasstation in Daxweiler on the A61 Koblenz/Mannheim. and after 200 km autobahn the BMW fuel consumption was 1 liter on 24 km.

I make to more stops to drink something. At one oçlock PM I stop at a parking beside the autobahn. I drink a bottle of water and chat with a German Yamaha rider and his wife and at two oçlock, I buy (and drink) some more water at a gasstation near the racetrack of Hockenheim.

Around three o clock, I arrive at Hotel Urbanus in Heilbronn. I can park the bike in the garage next to the hotel and I have a room at the second floor so I have to climb two stairs with my luggage :-(
I was very happy with my Tomtom because there were a lot of roadworks in Heilbron so it would have been difficult to find the hotel without it.

Hotel Urbanus

First I need a shower and with clean clothes on, I walk to the city center, a few minutes from the hotel. It is a nice city with some interesting historic buildings and a lot of shops.

The big church in the center of Heilbronn

The "Hafenmarktturm".
It was part of a Franciscaner monastery but is now a memorial for people who died in WW I and WW II

A nice building. I think it is a restaurant now

"Liebespunkt Heilbronn"
This is on the bridge over the river Neckar. Lovers can secure a padlock with their names on it, to a construction on the bridge and throw the key in the river.

The "Götzenturm".
This was the tower on the South-West corner of the old city

After a lot of walking, I got hungry so I had a meal of chicken and noodles at "Asiahung" in one of the big shopping malls.

At another shop, I bought an icecream as dessert and then I walked back to the hotel to write my weblog and relax.

For tuesday, I booked a room in a hotel in Hohenschwangau, near Neuschwanstein Castle. It is Alpenhotel Allgäu, Schwangauerstrasse 37 in Hohenschwangau.
