Shortly after I left the hotel I filled the tank of the Suzuki at a Shell petrol station in Heppenheim
because I was not sure if I had enough fuel for the more then 200 kilometer to Echternach.
This part of Germany is realy nice to ride. I enjoyed riding the Suzuki jeep but riding a motorbike
should be very nice too in this area. I saw many groups riding motorcycles but that is not "my cup of tea".
I rather ride alone when I ride a bike.

This is the kind of road I like
At half past twelve, I crossed the bridge over the river Sure in Echternach, from Germany into Luxembourg.
I filled my tank at the Esso petrol-station in Echternach and went to Larochette.

From Larochette I drove through Ettelbrück to Bastonge in Belgium on a beautiful three lane road (one
lane for one direction and two lanes for the other and changing every few kilometers) until it changed
to a normal two lane road near the Belgian border.

In Belium on the road to Bastogne, I saw an old army Jeep, parked in front of the
Bastogne Ardennes '44
Museum and it looked interesting enough to stop for a visit. Inside are displays with cars, motorcycles,
cannons, guns, mannequins in allied and German army uniforms and books and other things.
It was not very spectaculair but absolutely worth the € 6 it costs to visit the exhibition.

About an hour later, I was getting hungry so I stopped at a "Friture" to buy some french fries. Unfortunately
this was not the best french fries I ever had...... After eating half of it, I threw away the rest and left.

I tried to avoid the main road and fortunately with a little help of my Tomtom, I found some nice countryroads
"to take me home........."

After riding for two hours, it was time for a pitstop. It was five in the afternoon and I was hungry so when I
spotted a McDonalds in Kampenhout I parked the Suzuki and went inside for a cheesburger and a nice
cold McShake.

If I would have used the Tomtom to get me home, I would have gone through the center of Mechelen en Antwerpen.
I did not want that so in Mechelen, I went a little to the East and through Lier and Zandhoven I went to Oost-Malle.
In Mechelen
Through Brecht and Wuustwezel I drove to Putte-Kapelle and crossed the border into the Netherlands and at around
eight o'clock in the afternoon, I parked the Suzuki behind our house after riding more then a thousand kilometer in the
little Suzzuki 4x4 and I enjoyed every meter of it !
Epilog
Unfortunately I did not have enough time to really enjoy the HU meeting in Germany
but next time I will take two extra days so I can actually attend the activities at
the meeting.
One of the reasons I wanted to do this trip in the Suzuki Samurai was to check if
it was capable of making longer trips. The longest leg of my planned trip to Tarifa
in Spain is 500 kilometer and on Sunday I drove almost 600 kilometer in
the little Suzuki without riding on a freeway so, 450 kilometer on a day should be
no problem.
After the gearbox is repaired, it should be capable to be "plan B" for that trip
(plan A is going by bike ofcourse). Even after 600 kilometer, I did not feel
extremely tired, my back did not hurt and I felt fine.
