A daytrip in Zeeland

Every month, I organise a motorcycle tour with bikers from our church and today, I did a survey for the trip I want to do at the end of this month.

Yesterday, I mounted a RAM-mount on my bike to attach a camera on my handlebars and I mounted my big Givi topcase so I could store my helmet there if I go somewhere.

This morning I left home on my BMW R850R at about a quarter past nine and took the N289 past Rilland to Goes. Motoport, a big motorcycleshop in Goes is most of the time the starting point for our trips because our church is almost next to that shop so everyone knows where it is.

I was not the only biker on the road...

At the motorcycle shop, I parked my bike next to some other bikes and went inside to check out the new bikes and to get a cup of hot chocolat before I officialy started the survey.

My BMW at the parking in Goes

From Goes, I rode to the Zeelandbrug via the N256 and just after I crossed the more the five kilometer long Zeeland Bridge, I stopped for a photo. The sun was shining beautifully on the bridge and the clouds behind it were a bit dark and that provided a nice contrast.

From the Zeeland Bridge I rode to Zierikzee and I parked the BMW along the road to the Nobel Gate, for a photo.

Just when I was ready with the photo I wanted, a friendly lady walked up to me and offered to take a picture of me and the bike with my camera. That was nice and that picture also turned out to be nice.

After all the picture taking, I had set up the Tomtom to ride to the isle Neeltje Jans via winding roads but you don't have that much winding roads in this part of Zeeland, so the roads were nice and quiet, but not so twisty.

A nice but straight road

In the meantime I had already rode 75 kilometers today and I had not left with a full tank, so then I came across a Shell station at Burgh Haamstede, I stopped to fill up.
I had 154.9 kilometers on the trip meter and could put 7.58 liters in the tank so I drove 20.4 kilometer on one liter of fuel. Not super efficient but not to bad either.

With a full tank I left for the Oosterschelde Barrier and the visitor center on the isle Neeltje Jans. On the road to the Oosterschelde Barrier are large signs with corona advice, that you should avoid busy places.
Yes sure, a nice advise, at a big tourist attraction like the visitor center at Neeltje Jans .......

And indeed, it was pretty busy at the visitor center so I didn't go inside but I turned around and drove on towards 'the racetrack of Veere', the beautiful and winding road towards Veere.

In the meantime it had started to rain a bit, but not very hard, so that was no problem.
